“Fire-rated doors are an important part of a building’s passive fire-protection system,” said Jack Merideth, Vice President of Production for Life Safety Services. “There are very stringent guidelines enforced by the National Fire Protection Association that has led Facility Managers and Engineers to seek qualified contractors to perform these inspections. Fire Door inspections are required by NFPA Code, specifically NFPA 101 and NFPA 80 which encompasses eleven major inspection points. As with Fire and Smoke Damper Inspections, the NFPA also requires written documentation that the Fire Door Inspections have been completed and the report is to be made available to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s) on demand.
